Business Decisions

I don’t know about all of you who sell on e-bay, but I am having a heck of a time.  After going strong since 1999, my sales on that site have just tanked!  It’s really sad and upsetting to me.  I can’t figure out if it’s the site, my work, or people are discovering an abundance of other avenues to shop from.  Thus. . . I’ve decided to concentrate on Etsy http://BerryLane.etsy.com (which I love) and my own website http://BerryLane.com

My store on e-bay will slowly be liquidating and although I may maintain a presence selling there for certain items, I will no longer have a store.  Sadly, I just can’t justify the cost.

On a brighter note, although I am sad, I’m looking forward to really concentrating on only two avenues.  It will free up more of my time to network with other small business owners on Flickr & etsy and leave me with more time for family (which I REALLY need!).

If anyone else has any thoughts on e-bay or direction or any business advice, please leave me a comment or e-mail me.  I’m always interested in your thoughts.  Here’s a little of what I listed on my web site today.  OOOOH, I almost forgot - everything is 20% off at my web store.  Have a great week - XOXO Wendy

And so ’tis Friday. . .

This must be the first weekend in I don’t know how long we can actually stick around the house and catch up.  Kids have a huge project due on Monday which means they’ll be here most of the weekend researching. . . Do you think that will make it quieter?  LOL!

I’m planning on listing as much as I can between etsy and my .com store.  I’m kind of holding off on e-bay until I see how this last batch of listings go.  Work is going well, although the couple of “extra” hours a week I thought would be easy is turning into lots of “extra” hours.  Fortunately, I just love the clients that come into Curves and truly enjoy helping women get that extra encouragement to achieve the results they love.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.  Enjoy the last bit of summer sun!  Here’s a sneak peek at what I’ll be listing this next week.  As always, THANK YOU so much for all your comments and messages.  It’s so wonderful to hear from you.  Wendy

Just checking in . . .

Hi, everyone!  Sorry it’s been a bit, but WOW every year I forget how hectic it gets when the fall season rolls around.  I’ve been working on adding items to my website, etsy and ebay.  I just keep telling myself even a couple of listings a day will eventually pay off.  I just haven’t been able to find the correct balance of work, family and creating my items.  I’m sure in time, I’ll work it all out.

I did get a bit of good news though last week.  I’ve been promoted to Assistant Manager at Curves.  It really only involves a couple of extra hours a week, but it’s a nice pay raise and also a chance to make some changes I’ve wanted to since I started there.  (That’s my control freak side showing! LOL!)  Here’s some items that I’ll be listing this week on e-bay.  Hope everyone is happy and healthy and have a great week!  Wendy

Fall is coming . . .

I realized yesterday as I sent my kids back to school fall is fast approaching.  A couple of leaves around here are turning colors and ushering in the crisp autumn days.  I was also thinking of all the things I’d like to do.  I have a list a hundred miles long, but if I can just tackle one big task every day, maybe I can whittle it down a bit.

As more people are viewing my blog now, I thought I’d share just a couple of more personal items not related to my business.  As you know, I’m the mother of three teenagers but we’re kind of unique.  All three of my children are in the same grade, (juniors in high school) but they’re not triplets.  I had my twin boys first and then we got pregnant right away with my daughter.  So . . . they missed the cutoff for school and she made the cutoff.

Also, I thought I’d share that my part time job is as a circuit trainer at Curves.  You’ll find Monday thru Wednesdays (the days I work), I very rarely post and then I’ll go crazy the rest of the week.  I just wanted to let you all know a couple of things, so we can all get to know each other better.  Hope you all have a wonderful day and accomplish many great things!

Rolling along . . .

Shabby Cottage Roses Wood Star Ornament & TagsHi, everyone!  Just wanted to check in again and show you some new items being added to BerryLane.  Believe it or not, I’m already adding Christmas.  It seems like it gets earlier and earlier every year.  With the beginning of school next week, the last of the summer family get togethers and laundry always piled up the ceiling, I thought I’d try to get an early start this year.  Enjoy the pics and as always take care!  Wendy

Confused . . . but working thru it!

Hi, all!  I’m trying very slowly to learn how to create a blog.  Being as technically challenged as I am, I’m sure it will be slow, but steady!  A little bit about me . . . My name is Wendy and I’m the mother of 3 wonderful children, a wife to my husband of 18 years and Mommy to my 5 year old black lab whom we all just adore.

I love everything shabby, pink, white & chippy.  Our home is filled with ROSES! in paintings, pictures and fabrics.  I love collecting vintage barkcloth, roses oil paintings and lots of STUFF!  (Way to much STUFF)  Truthfully my love of the shabby look began when I had children.  I wanted a lived in, comfy look so my kids wouldn’t need to be afraid to sit or play on or in anything in their home.  Thru the years, although I’ve considerably downsized, I feel I still love that “lived in look”.

As far as my work life goes, I’ve been selling on e-bay since 1999 and have thoroughly enjoyed my stay there.  I’ve recently begun selling on my own website at http://BerryLane.com and I’m learning so much and meeting many more friends and customers.  Creating is my passion and I’m hoping having a website will allow me a little more freedom in choosing what I like to sell.  Everything you see on both e-bay, my website and etsy are items I would choose to display in my own home.

Well, to wrap things up, I’d love to invite you all to leave me a comment, especially those who have recently began in the world of blogging or creating their own site and offer advise!  I’d love to know how you went about it.

Much Love, Wendy
