Update on the Stairs & Closet

30209-0021So, the process has begun.  I’m almost embarrased to show the beginning because it looks so terrrible, but I know when the project is finished it will be well worth it.

Here’s a couple pics of the beginning.  I fell in love with this border when we moved into the house 12 years ago, but alas, time for change.

Here’s just a teaser of what’s happening.  The lovely model in the photo is my daughter who carefully taped off the steps and painted them.  The closet is my domain.  I’ll post more once it’s finished!  Hugs to all, Wendy

Back from Vacation

What a wonderful time we had.  The weather was just perfect for skiing, although in the late afternoons, it was really cold!  I think I skiied more and better this time than I ever have and funny enough, it made my kids happy watching me struggle (You think they have a mean streak, lol?!).  Here’s just a couple of the highlights of our trip.  I’ll post more of the beautiful pictures my daughter took later.  Lots of fun and I’ll cherish the time forever – Wendy

Whirlwind January

12409-121So, since I’ve last posted, I’ve rented the tents, chairs, tables, tablecloths, chafing dishes (quite honestly I didn’t even know what they were) and a cotton candy machine for my kids graduation.  Whew!  I never knew having the kids graduate would be equivilent to planning a wedding.  Now, since I’m doing a Dr. Suess “Oh, The Places You’ll Go” theme, I’m on the hunt for affordable decorations and planning a menu for 100 people.  I’m sure I’ll get there ~ just step by step (that’s what I have to keep reminding myself).

I’m adding items every day to my website and etsy and I’m really excited about the items I’ve been listing.  I think they truly are creations from my heart.  Here’s a little sneak peek. . . .

Been a long time ~ Sorry!

Wow, I have a feeling this year is just going to get busier, so although I’ll try to update as much as I can, it could be a long time between posts.

I don’t even know where to start. . . Our holidays were wonderful ~ far to short, of course.  This was the first year I had to work thru the holidays while everyone, including my husband, got to stay home.  It was difficult to say the least.

Business is good.  Since the beginning of January, I’ve been adding items to all my shops and have had a good response.  It’s a struggle trying to keep up with three different locations, but I just love it.  My passion has always been creating items for customers and with every sale I’m just so grateful that people think enough of me to purchase something.

We’ve applied for everything we can apply for as far as college is concerned for the three kids.  Let’s just all cross our fingers that colleges are willing to help us out.  In reality, I can’t think of too many people that need to send all three of their kids to college in the same year.

I appreciate you all ~ love your comments and so cherish your support.  If you want to, please visit my sites to see what’s new.  You never know, maybe you’ll find something you can’t live without!  Big hugs, Wendy

Time is just flying. . . .

Sorry, it’s been a while since my last post.  Life, just like yours I’m sure it’s flying by at a record pace.  Tonight I attended what was supposed to be my daughter’s last marching band performance, but since the football team is still going strong, we’ll be able to see it again, I’m sure.  It was so tough at the end because they gathered all the seniors, applauded them and as they left, the senior drum major awarded the position of “leader” for the next year.  It brought tears to my eyes to see my little girl leaving the stage as they introduced the band for 2009.  All these years of attending all these events for all three of my children are finally coming to an end.  Now, they’ll all move on to college and their own functions without us.  I’m excited for them, for us and sad at the same time.  Sorry for the meloncholy post, I’ll move on to happier things. . . . .

Fabulous Sunday

Don’t you all just love those crisp autum days where you can spend time with all your family?  We had a wonderful day today, going to a cider mill, eating donoughts, drinking cider and running thru a corn maze.  Even though my kids are older, they had so much fun “hanging” with the little ones.  You just can’t ask for a better day!

Hope your Sunday was wonderful too – Big hugs, Wendy

New items added and a bit a fabulous personal news . . . .

Well, I can hardly contain myself, so I think I’ll go with the personal news first.  As many of you know my husband and myself are the proud parents of 3 children who will ALL be entering college in the fall.  (O.k., try to figure that one out!)  My two boys were both accepted to Eastern University and my daughter was accepted to U of M.  Needless to say, I couldn’t be prouder of all of them.  Although, they still have a lot of decisions to make about commuting, staying on campus, what they’d like to pursue; at least now they have a final destination for the next four years.  Yeah, Babies!

For business news, I’ve been adding new items daily.  Here’s just a sneak peek of a few I thought you might like.  On a fun note, I recently had a sale to a lady in Sweden.  That was definitely a country I had never shipped to before.  Have fun looking at the pictures and have a wonderful rest of the week.  Hugs from me, Wendy

**Sorry, I can’t get my picture to upload right now – must be some kind of a glitch.  To se what’s coming just click on my flickr page on the right hand side.**  I’ll try again later!

Little thinker’. . . .

I’m not going to tell you yet, but I’ve come up with my present with my friends and family for this years holidays.  I always hand make a special gift for my family members.  It’s a fun little thing I do every year and I think they all look forward to it ~ or they humor me!   Just a little hint, it’s cleansing, moisturizing, still shabby chic and cottage charming and you’ll be able to also give it to your friends and family for the holidays.  (Of course, this is after, I snag my gifts).  Can anyone guess?

Weekend Post

Unbelievably, it’s my twin niece and newphew’s 8th birthday!  Goodness, I just wonder where the time goes.  They each wanted legos – not kits – mind you, but just boxes of legos to create their “own” designs.  I just love that . . . wanting to make items from their original plan.  God bless them and I can’t wait to see what they can make!  Check back soon!

Lots of love, Wendy

Quick Updates

Whew – this year. . . . I just don’t know how to even explain it.  My husband and I are in that in-between place where we’re just preparing to put our kids into college and yet facing taking care of our parents.  Tough.  Without going into all the soap operaish details, this year has not been the most calm year we’ve ever enjoyed.  O.k. – enough whining and on to all the good things . . . . .

I’m so thrilled to get back to my website and adding products.  It’s like creating items is my release from all the pressures of my “real” work, my family pressures (sorry guys – I love you!).  I just find a wonderful joy in creating something, knowing that it will go to someone who appreciates it.  Items are being added daily now to my website, and I think they are some of the most wonderful creations I’ve ever made.  Please take a peek as I’m now offering free shipping as part of www.ShabbyLaneShops.com Christmas in July promotion.  My website is located at www.BerryLane.com.  Drop me a note and let me know what you think.

To all of you who have tagged me, I apologize for not responding.  I will try better in the future. . . I appreciate you all!  Big hugs and I hope to check back in soon.  Lots of love, Wendy
