Whirlwind January

12409-121So, since I’ve last posted, I’ve rented the tents, chairs, tables, tablecloths, chafing dishes (quite honestly I didn’t even know what they were) and a cotton candy machine for my kids graduation.  Whew!  I never knew having the kids graduate would be equivilent to planning a wedding.  Now, since I’m doing a Dr. Suess “Oh, The Places You’ll Go” theme, I’m on the hunt for affordable decorations and planning a menu for 100 people.  I’m sure I’ll get there ~ just step by step (that’s what I have to keep reminding myself).

I’m adding items every day to my website and etsy and I’m really excited about the items I’ve been listing.  I think they truly are creations from my heart.  Here’s a little sneak peek. . . .

Been a long time ~ Sorry!

Wow, I have a feeling this year is just going to get busier, so although I’ll try to update as much as I can, it could be a long time between posts.

I don’t even know where to start. . . Our holidays were wonderful ~ far to short, of course.  This was the first year I had to work thru the holidays while everyone, including my husband, got to stay home.  It was difficult to say the least.

Business is good.  Since the beginning of January, I’ve been adding items to all my shops and have had a good response.  It’s a struggle trying to keep up with three different locations, but I just love it.  My passion has always been creating items for customers and with every sale I’m just so grateful that people think enough of me to purchase something.

We’ve applied for everything we can apply for as far as college is concerned for the three kids.  Let’s just all cross our fingers that colleges are willing to help us out.  In reality, I can’t think of too many people that need to send all three of their kids to college in the same year.

I appreciate you all ~ love your comments and so cherish your support.  If you want to, please visit my sites to see what’s new.  You never know, maybe you’ll find something you can’t live without!  Big hugs, Wendy

Time is just flying. . . .

Sorry, it’s been a while since my last post.  Life, just like yours I’m sure it’s flying by at a record pace.  Tonight I attended what was supposed to be my daughter’s last marching band performance, but since the football team is still going strong, we’ll be able to see it again, I’m sure.  It was so tough at the end because they gathered all the seniors, applauded them and as they left, the senior drum major awarded the position of “leader” for the next year.  It brought tears to my eyes to see my little girl leaving the stage as they introduced the band for 2009.  All these years of attending all these events for all three of my children are finally coming to an end.  Now, they’ll all move on to college and their own functions without us.  I’m excited for them, for us and sad at the same time.  Sorry for the meloncholy post, I’ll move on to happier things. . . . .

New items added and a bit a fabulous personal news . . . .

Well, I can hardly contain myself, so I think I’ll go with the personal news first.  As many of you know my husband and myself are the proud parents of 3 children who will ALL be entering college in the fall.  (O.k., try to figure that one out!)  My two boys were both accepted to Eastern University and my daughter was accepted to U of M.  Needless to say, I couldn’t be prouder of all of them.  Although, they still have a lot of decisions to make about commuting, staying on campus, what they’d like to pursue; at least now they have a final destination for the next four years.  Yeah, Babies!

For business news, I’ve been adding new items daily.  Here’s just a sneak peek of a few I thought you might like.  On a fun note, I recently had a sale to a lady in Sweden.  That was definitely a country I had never shipped to before.  Have fun looking at the pictures and have a wonderful rest of the week.  Hugs from me, Wendy

**Sorry, I can’t get my picture to upload right now – must be some kind of a glitch.  To se what’s coming just click on my flickr page on the right hand side.**  I’ll try again later!

I’m baaaaaack. . . .

Finally checking back in as I was without a computer for about a week.  My hard drive crashed. . . whatever that means.  Fortunately, my husband and sons being quite the talented computer people were able to save almost everything!  YEAH!

I’ve been adding products furiously to my website, http://BerryLane.com and also my one etsy store at http://CottageBubbles.etsy.com.  (Sorry for the shameless plug!)  I’ve yet to get to flickr or my other etsy store, but this choochoo’s going to keep on going!

Here’s a couple of pics showing what I’ve been working on.  Lots and lots of soap.  I’m having so much fun with the little cakes, but thought I should make some truly utilitarian ones also.  I love these soaps so much – the base I’m working with has no chemicals or drying agents like sls.  The roses soap is what I’m giving away with every purchase from my website for the month of October.  Have a great weekend and I’ll talk to you soon – Wendy

My Christmas Gifts

Allright, you guessed right – it is a soap.  But not just any soap ~ it’s these beautiful bundt cake soaps.  Although I only have my honey almond done yet, I think I’m going to add a spice cake, strawberry cake, chocolate (of course) and maybe more.  I’ve packaged these bundt cakes in a true bakery box with some shredded papers and will tie them with seam binding and probably a pretty sticker.  This batch turned out so fragrant that I’m adding one cut into fours on a vintage saucer in my bathroom.

What do you think?

Little thinker’. . . .

I’m not going to tell you yet, but I’ve come up with my present with my friends and family for this years holidays.  I always hand make a special gift for my family members.  It’s a fun little thing I do every year and I think they all look forward to it ~ or they humor me!   Just a little hint, it’s cleansing, moisturizing, still shabby chic and cottage charming and you’ll be able to also give it to your friends and family for the holidays.  (Of course, this is after, I snag my gifts).  Can anyone guess?

Friday Flea-ing

Sometimes, just sometimes, you get the sudden urge to find more treasures even though you have SO MANY you could fill two houses with.  But . . . . I woke up this morning with daughter gone for the day, two boys fairly self sufficient, husband at work and me feeling like playing hookey from work.  So, the story begins. . . .

I felt like I couldn’t go too far in case of an emergency, so I scavenged the local antique malls.  I hardly ever go locally because I swear I never find anything.  But today, VOILA – not much but I love everything I bought today.  I think the two vintage 1978 perfume bottles are so gorgeous!  I just love the graphics of the roses on the bottles.  I think I’ll probably list the vintage enamel pin – I’ve never found one so pretty.  The other rhinestone pins will probably stay with me and be used for embellishment on a sachet or tote.

The stunning vintage chintz sewing box will become a part of my collection – one of my great weaknesses.

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend – Many blessings and many fun times with family, working on your house or just lazing around.  Big hugs – Wendy

A thing for black polka dots . . . .

As I was going thru some of my stored “stash” I came across these beautiful dresden quilt blocks I had purchased quite some time ago.  I took one and made a 20″ x 20″ pillow sham with it and paired it with black polka dots.  I think it frames it beautifully.  Of course, since I had the polka dots out, I had to make a stocking in non-traditional colors for Christmas.  The rest of the quilt blocks, I think I’ll list on etsy.  The colors really took me out of my “shabby chic” range, but I had a lot of fun!

Ava Rose . . . . My new love

Ahhhh. . . . Ava Rose is my new love!  As most of you know 99% of what I make is created with vintage fabrics and barkcloths.  This is the 1st collection of new fabrics I’ve ever fallen in love with.  Tanya Whalen has created this gorgeous fabric for FreeSpirit and I just love it.  So far, I’ve only made these from two of the stunning colorways, but there’s more out there.  HELP!!!!!  I’m addicted!

Come see these new pieces being added to http://BerryLane.com  Right now, I’m offering free shipping and custom orders, as always, are welcome.

Love to all ~ Wendy
